St Lucia Itinerary

St Lucia is a beautiful Caribbean island known for its exotic landscape and tropical climate, consisting of volcanoes, rainforests and beaches, vacationing here would be a dream for nature lovers and the outdoors type but the island has even more to offer, with a buzzing nightlife, local festivals and authentic restaurants, the island truly offers an amazing experience for anyone and everyone!

Hike the Pitons

These two mountain formations made from volcanic material are so stunning it looks as if they belong in a Sci-Fi movie, for those seeking adventure, this should be the first activity on your list of things to do in St Lucia. The Pitons are located on the southern coast of the island, Gros Piton is located in Soufriere and Petit Piton is in Choiseul.

Gros Piton is more popular among tourists and hikers since it is relatively easier to climb compared to Petit Piton, in fact, Petit Piton has no marked trails and requires special permission to hike. You can book your hike through a tour operator which will provide you with transportation, a local guide and will cover the entry fee. You don’t have to book through a tour guide, but it might be easier and more convenient, if you decide not to you’ll just have to pay the $50 entry fee upon arrival and you will be paired with a local guide.

The hike itself can take anywhere between 3-5 hours depending on the pace and number of stops, be prepared and be sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen and anything else you consider essential!

Visit Toraille Waterfall

If you want to do some sightseeing but hiking isn’t your thing then check out Toraille Waterfall just outside of Soufriere. The waterfall is 50 feet high and has a small pool at the bottom that is ideal for swimming. While you can book a guided tour to the falls, I don’t think that’s necessary, you’re most likely better off visiting on your own, it’s not a strenuous all day activity, most people spend an hour or two swimming and taking pictures then head out.

Gros Islet Street Party

Okay so maybe hiking isn’t for you and you want some entertainment, don’t worry, you can dance the night away at the Gros Islet Street party! Every Friday night the village of Gros Islet in the northern section of the island hosts a festive street party where locals and tourists eat fresh seafood, drink, enjoy music and watch street performers dance and perform tricks. The party typically starts around sunset but really picks up after dark!

Relax at Reduit Beach

St Lucia’s beaches are a popular attraction and a main reason why people vacation here, you’ll have plenty of beaches to choose from but a fan favorite is Reduit beach located on the northwest side of the island. This beach is known for it’s beautiful sunsets, water sports for those who want to kayak and jet ski and the beach is also within a 5 min walk of a few restaurants and bars.

Anse Chastanet

Another beautiful beach, this one is located on the southwest coast in the town of Soufriere and is a great alternative for those who want more privacy and seclusion compared to the more popular and crowded Reduit Beach. This beach is the ideal spot for snorkeling as the water is crystal clear and there is lots of sea life close to the shoreline.

Splash Island Water Park

If you’re visiting St Lucia as a family and need a kid-friendly activity then Splash Island Water Park is a must! Located on Reduit Beach, this water park is unlike a traditional water park because it is on the open water and has a floating trampoline and obstacle course. The park has a minimum age requirement of 6 and a height requirement of 3 feet tall, the park is staffed with life guards and all guests are required to wear a life jacket. Hourly tickets are $15 a person, a 4 hour pass is $40 and an all day 8 hour pass is $60 and the park is open from 9:30 a.m to 6 p.m.
